Reflection of the new knowledge

Hello everyone!

Is always hard to say goodbye, but we are finishing this Bilingual Master and the last challenge is a recap of our knowledge. It is incredible how in few months can someone learn and get in deep in this ICT world. Personally I learnt a lot and I will put in practice few things, if I have to choose one challenge I will say the eProject. Work in group is one of my favourite things, discuss and organize with others is always a challenge, but this time we fit perfectly. One activity that shocked me was the license. How to differentiate what things can you use or which ones not. Is something to think about and something to teach to our future students, that not everything on the net is free. But the challenge that I really had fun was the chocotalk. I think all of us enjoy this activity, because still today we remember it and we laugh about it.

For the last challenge we had to record a video and recap the activities that we made during the year:

So thanks to all my classmates for those moments and teacher @mjgsm to be patient and introduce us in the ICT world. This blog is not going to be closed, I will try to update it with activities or things that I consider important, so keep this blog on favourites and see you in the next post!

Creating a rubric!

Hello everyone!

We are we are in the final stretch of concluding the Bilingual Master, and we can see how is it becoming more difficult. We work with CLIL methodology and in the final lap we are developing our HOTS (High Order Thinking Skills) because we are going to evaluate.

A rubric helps us to evaluate our class and if we give it to our students, they will know which aspects they have to improve.

I used Quickrubric.com because is one of the easiest and cleanest tools to elaborate one. The evaluation I created is composed by the steps that an e-Project has to follow. First as teachers we have to observe how the groups works. Then we are going to know about the e-Project through different places, social networks, posters, videos, etc. Then we are going to glance it, looking if it is interesting or not. After that, if it is interesting, we are going to read it.

I put in practice the rubric and it suits with some of my classmates e-Projects, but I develop as if I were a teacher in a class, so the group work I could not evaluate it because I do not have reference, however they made a great effort and everything is perfectly explained in their blogs.

It is difficult to create an evaluation that fits all the projects, but that is the main goal of this challenge. So that is why we need to do it, because is something that will help us as teachers, and for the students to guide their works.

Hope you like it and feel free to asses me with the rubric!

World Book Day is coming!

This Saturday is the World Book Day and in class we wanted to do a special activity. Our teacher @mjgsm ask us to use Aurasma and record a video or an audio explaining our favourite book, the type of reader we are, etc.

In other post I explained you how to use Aurasma. It is very easy to use and with the QR code that I give you, you can follow my channel and discover what I made.

The trigger image I used is this one:

I took a picture of the book and I use Canva.com to make the poster. Is a really good tool because it allows you to make nice posters in few minutes. It has many resources in spite of lots of them you need to pay.

The video you are going to watch inside the trigger image, was edited with the Wondershare Filmora tool. It is a simple computer program that allows you to edit, insert images or videos, insert music, etc.

For those of you that have problems or you can’t use Aurasma, I upload the video on youtube, so you can watch it here.

In addition, my classmates made their own posters and trigger images using Aurasma, you can watch their fantastic creations in this board on Pinterest.

I hope you enjoy it!

Tutorial about Aurasma

Hi everyone!
In this challenge we had to create a tutorial and as we used Aurasma, we wanted to show you how you can create augmented reality, it is very simple!
To record the tutorial we used Screencast-o-Matic. This program allows you to record your computer screen and voice, so you can explain the process at the same time you do it. Is very simple to use it. Then we also record with our mobile phone a scene and then we edit it with Wondershare Filmora.

Here you have the result!

If you have any problem or doubt just leave a comment!

A CLIL Chocotalk!

Hello!

Chocotalk? What is this?! It is something really interesting that you have to discover @chococharlas. We have been part of this project and we have collaborate with them.

This challenge was quite special, the 7th of April at 19.00h Spanish time we met through hangouts tool and we speak about CLIL for an hour. All the groups that we conform the class at collage participate. My friend @nepeuspu and me @Alvaro_Gope were the speakers of our group and on the back there was @Marta_Gayarre as disseminator, she had to spread the information and the topics we were talking about on twitter. Then the content curators that recap all the information and the most important things were @22paau and @maradominguezgo. Here you have the Genial.ly that we created to sum up the entire event:

The topics that we spoke about were:

  • Advantages and disadvantages of CLIL
  • Social and emotional benefits of CLIL
  • The role of ICT in the classroom
  • CLIL eProjects.

The last topic was about our eProjects and the presentation of them. There were some very interesting like: Our body, Traveling and Europe, History, Animals or the Space.

Here you can see chocotalk:

We also create a label that announce the event:

You can follow our eProject here on twitter: @eProject_Hood

Videochallenge!

Hi!

As you read in the title, we had to make a video! We recorded the video about our eProject and we tried to make it engaging, not only explaining what is about. We wanted to simulate a real scene and prove that our goals can be craft with the project.

We want to teach our students that they have been living on a neighbourhood that they do not know. They do not realize about the public transport, the cleanliness, the heritage, the economy, etc. So we want to involve them in discovering all this topics and make them think about them, if it is right to be in those conditions or not.

So after thinking what topics we wanted to introduce, we had to make a storyboard. We thought that the easiest way was creating a Google Docs and making a draft. Here you can see the dialog:

To record the video we use a reflex camera and then we use iMovie to edit it. We had already use this tool to edit videos, but the challenge was to clean the noise of the wind. We had to record outside and the sound of the voice and the environment produce feedback. It was quite difficult but we could solve it. I think this tool is really good and it has a lot of resources, the problem is that only computers with Mac can use it. There are other tools as Sony Vegas or Wondershare Filmora that are good to.

As I told you, there was a surprise behind the InfoEduGraphic and it was this video. We wanted to hide it in the picture and make it more interesting.

So here is our video, we hope you enjoy it!

Creating an InfoEduGraphic

Hello everyone!

In this challenge we have to work in groups and create an eProject. My group is composed by @marta_Gayarre @22paau @maradomingezgo @nepeuspu and me @Alvaro_GoPe.

The first step was to assign roles:

  • Speaker: @nepeuspu
  • Supervisor:@marta_Gayarre
  • Secretaries: @22paau @maradominguezgo
  • Coordinator: @Alvaro_Gope

Then we had to create an infographic about our topic. We wanted to work our neighbourhood and teach students that they do not know their environment. We are going to work topics like public transport, heritage, economy and recycling. So after trying different tools like, Genial.ly, Piktochart.com, infogr.am, we have decided to use Canva.com because it has more resources to create an infographic. The disadvantage of this tool is that only few things are free, but with imagination, you can create your own template.

This picture hides something that you can discover it tagging the QR code and using the Aurasma app (for iOS and Android).

You only have to create an account in Aurasma and follow our channel eProject_hood or tag the QR code that is going to be easier.

We also created a twitter where we are posting our improvements, you can follow us and read how is going on the eProject. @eProject_Hood

I hope you enjoy it!

Edesign evaluation

Hello everyone!

In this challenge I had to choose one CLIL eProject and evaluate it; it is the time to use a rubric and become an evaluator!

I choose a blog developed by three students from last year. In my opinion is one of the best ones!

In my review I used the rubric given by our teacher @mjgsm and it reflects all the aspects that a good blog needs. Therefore, I can conclude that the blog I evaluated is perfect and has many resources and it is very funny to read it. I learn few things about their last year work.

I used Genial.ly to present my evaluation because it is a new webpage, created by Spanish developers and I think is really good, they can be improved, but it is fresh and original.

I hope you enjoy it and take a look their blog!

Developing an eProject!

Hello!

I am developing an eProject! In this challenge we had to create a project where the use of ICT is essential.

Therefore, I want to spread why is it important to know what is around us and with this project I think we can learn more about our city and also about us. I tried to show that we move around the city, we walk through many places that we do not know anything about and they are important.

Here you have the clip of the idea, I have to say thanks to my technical support @Salvador1987lop that helps me with this record:

The video was edited with Wondershare Filmora, it is an easy tool to create videos. I recommend you to use it. The audio was made with an online tool where you can write a text and choose who is going to say it and in which language, and then you can download this record for free.

If I had to develop it in a class, I would do in this way:

This template was given by our teacher @mjgsm. It is located in Google Docs, one of the best online tools, it allows you to create and storage documents, files, etc. You only need a Google Account.

I hope you like this eProject and please buy it!

Webmix!

Good morning!
We had been asked to become content curator and create a webmix to have materials at hand at any time with the collaborative bank. I think is one of the most useful resources I found and I am going to continue using it, it is like a desktop but with your favourite webpages.
You can have it on any computer because it is an online resource and you can take your favourite tools everywhere with Symbaloo. It is easy to use, clean and colourful. Here you have my webmix, it will be improved along the year. http://edu.symbaloo.com/mix/educacion629 I am not going to explain which CLIL resources I am going to use, try to discover them on your own and perhaps you would like them.
Enjoy it!

Pinterest board about CLIL

Good afternoon!
In class, we made a collaborative CLIL bank with Pinterest, you can visit it here Open CLIL board in Pinterest.
Sigue el tablero Open CLIL de Mª Jesús en Pinterest.

It is a great place to find and share things about everything. Also you can create a board like we did, where you can find since videos about CLIL till activities to do in class. It is a good and easy way to share and talk about a topic with a community, each of us add 6 resources, and now we have 180 resources in total, just shearing few things, you can have a big common knowledge bank.

License a blog with Creative Commons

Hello!
I had licensed this blog and I chose to allow others to share my activities but they have to refer the origin http://discoveringicts.blogspot.com.es/. I think that we need to collaborate and share things, that is why we live in a social community, but with my license, I do not allow others to earn money with my job.
It is easy to do and you can licensed your own work in this webpage http://creativecommons.org/choose/?lang=en. You can choose the kind of license you want, and you only have to paste the embed code in your webpage or blog. You can see the result at the end of this blog.
This activity, that my classmates and I did in Master’s class, give us as teachers, the knowledge of which things we could use or which not, and what we should do when we use other materials that are not make by us. For children is interesting to show them that not everything upload on the net is free, there are people that work and create things that then they share but with license, so is our role to show our students to differentiate those resources and refer to it correctly.

Learning with and by Twittering

Twitter is a social network where you can find a lot of different people chatting about different things. In class we had to create an account and talk about CLIL, it is a good way to learn and read without getting tired, in 140 characters you have to express your ideas. Here is my tweet: https://twitter.com/Alvaro_Gope/status/701374433118830592

CLIL PLE/PLN mindmap

I started to know about CLIL at University, when I was finishing my degree, but my knowledge was not enough, that is one of the reasons that I wanted to do a Master’s in Bilingual Education. This year, one of the subjects, explains deeper the CLIL method and I think is fascinating, I am trying to learn more about it and read about this approach.
During a month, we are going to be in schools practicing and teaching and is the best place to see how this method works, that is why, when all classmates arrive in the afternoon to University, we start to talk about our impressions. Even on weekends, there are hundreds of whatsapp chatting about activities we can develop next week. It is funny and exciting be involved in a teamwork where you can share your opinions and have a feedback.
I want to show you my PLE/PLN, as you can see it is easy and simple, that is why I need to improve my knowledge about this area and grow up with it as a teacher. In few months I think it will be more complex, because is something that is always growing as my knowledge.

3, 2, 1... Introduction

I want to show you my presentation with emaze.com; it is really interesting webpage because you can do an easy online presentation with many resources. For example, in the first slide you can see a video to introduce the presentation. In the next one, there is an audio made with this online web http://nuancevocalizerexpressive.sodels.com where you can write a text and choose who is going to say it and in which language, then you can download this record for free. But the file that you download is in .wav, and the emaze webpage does not support it, so I converted here http://media.io/es/ the audio to .mp3. It is free and an online resource. In the next slides, you can see that I uploaded few photos, and also I made a quiz. You have the option to create links between slides and create a quiz. In the last slide I uploaded another audio that I found on internet, but I had to cut it because it was too long and I use this online tool https://mp3cut.net/.
I hope you like it and try to use emaze.com, it is an easy and funny tool to create original presentations. I think the only downside is that this webpage does not have a good mobile support, because I tried to watch it on my smartphone and the videos and the audio does not work.
Thanks for watching it!

Hello everyone!

My name is Álvaro Gómez Pecino and I want to start this blog presenting myself.
When I finished my studies at high school I knew that the field of education suits my. I am from Asturias and I started my degree in Primary education in Oviedo’s University and at the end I was so pleased with the studies, that I took an extra year and extra subjects, like First Aid in School and “Manejo del Comportamiento Problemático en el Aula Problemático en el Aula”. In addition, I enrolled on an adventure, I went to Scotland to improve my English and teach on a school. That was one of my best experiences in live and grew my up like a teacher.
Finally, I wanted to do a Master’s Degree in Bilingual Education and I found one at Rey Juan Carlos University Carlos University that is innovative and has good subjects.
New technologies and CLIL methodology are some of my interests and I would like to improve them as much as possible to be better in the future.
This blog is an ePortfolio about the activities that we make in class and a excuse to start one and build something for my future in ICTs.
